Asus up the netbook performance ante
In a sign that the line between netbook and notebook is further blurring, Asus has recently announced their new Eee PC 1201N.
In a sign that the line between netbook and notebook is further blurring, Asus has recently announced their new Eee PC 1201N. As far as the spec sheet goes, this is a unit that will raise the bar for other netbooks and put paid to some of Steve Jobs recent statements.
Equipped with a dual coreIntel® Atom 330 dual core processor and an NVIDIA ION graphics processor that Asus claims "delivers a level of multimedia performance never before seen on netbooks". Out of the box, it comes with 2GB of memory and 250GB of storage. Input and output are covered by a VGA Port, HDMI, 3 x USB 2.0, LAN RJ-45, headphone and mic-in and a MMC/SDHC card reader. There's also Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11n.
Where the line between netbook and notebook is that the 1201N has a 12-inch screen pushing it into sub-notebook territory.
Australian pricing is set at $699 and it comes in any colour you like - as long as it's black!
